ORFORDVILLE, Wis. (WMTV) -- Authorities in Rock County arrested an Evansville man for his 7th OWI offense early Thursday morning. The Rock County Sheriff’s office says 54-year-old Robert Zapata was arrested just after midnight on S. State Highway 213 by West Lang Road, just north of Orfordville.

Authoties say Zapata was driving north on highway 213 when he hit a large tree branch that broke from a tree. A utility pole and power lines also came down in the crash. The power lines were lying in the road so traffic was diverted until the scene was cleared around 1:45 a.m.
Zapata was not hurt but deputies suspected he might be drunk.

According to the sheriff’s office, Zapata has six prior OWI convictions. A 7th offense makes this latest incident a felony.
