Events to get you in the holiday spirit

MADISON, Wis. (WMTV) -- If you're not in the holiday spirit yet, we have four events happening this weekend that are sure to add some magic to the season.

Edgewater ice rink: Family night & friday night fish fry on Dec. 14, 4:00 to 9:00 p.m. Join the fun at The Edgewater every Friday during the holiday season for family night and Friday night fish fry at the ice rink! Take a spin on the rink overlooking beautiful Lake Mendota and enjoy the crisp winter weather. When you're ready to warm up, pop inside the ice house for a classic Wisconsin dinner. Check the ice rink website for rink and skate rental pricing, weather updates and special holiday hours.

2018 Tandem Press Holiday Open House & Sale on Dec. 15, 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at Tandem Press. Save the date for the annual holiday open house at Tandem Press. Enjoy light refreshments while watching printmaking demonstrations in the studio and perusing hundreds of affordable fine art prints in the gallery. Pick up a few for those last minute holiday gifts! Three different printmaking sessions will take place throughout the day. The event is free and open to the public with free parking available.

The Nutcracker on Dec. 15, 2:00 to 7:00 p.m. and Dec. 16 at 2:00 p.m. at the Overture Center for the Arts. Grab your tickets for The Nutcracker at Overture Hall and be a part of this classic Madison tradition. Madison Ballet rings in the holiday season with this timeless story full of treasured characters. The show features 150 talented dancers, a twenty-five foot tree, an epic battle, magnificent costumes and live music from the Wisconsin Chamber Orchestra. Performances go through Dec. 26. Tickets are available at Overture.org

Downtown Madison Cookie Walk on Dec. 16, 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. in downtown Madison. Nothing gets you in the holiday spirit like cookies! The Madison bid is hosting this fun new event. Enjoy cookie samples and decorating demonstrations at nearly 20 participating businesses, including Art Gecko, Brocach Irish Pub, Fromagination, Parthenon Gyros, Revel, and The Soap Opera. Businesses will also be offering a sale, special or featured item.
The event is open to all ages. Children under two are free. Tickets are $8 or $28 for a family four pack and includes registration to win a $100 downtown Madison gift certificate.
