Names released in fatal car crash in Waushara County

MARION, Wis. (WMTV) --- One person was pronounced dead at the scene after a car crash in Marion.

On Thursday morning, the Waushara County deputies responded to a report of a head on crash on State Road 21 by the intersection of County Road Z, in the Town of Marion. When deputies arrived, they found two cars had collided in the westbound lane of State Road 21 west of the intersection.

According to officials, 29-year old Lydia Thao was pronounced dead on the scene by the Waushara County Coroner. This driver was eastbound on State Road 21 and crossed the centerline striking the other vehicle head on. This driver was from Minnesota.

53-year old David Daniel and 21-year old Arik Daniel were in the other car. One person had to be freed using the Jaws of Life. This person had serious injuries. The second passenger had non-life threatening injuries and was also transported to a hospital. Both people were from Missouri.

The crash is under investigation by the Waushara County Sheriff’s Office and the Wisconsin State Patrol.

Officials said the names of the people involved will be released at a later date.

This is the second fatality in Waushara County in 2016.
