Fitchburg police: 4 teens arrested in stolen vehicle

FITCHBURG, Wis. (WMTV) - Four teens were arrested after an officer observed a suspicious vehicle in the 5800 block of Dawley Drive on Sept. 25 around 12:55 a.m.

According to the Fitchburg Police Department, the officer saw the vehicle parked in the street and discovered it had been reported stolen the previous day. When the officer attempted to conduct a traffic stop, the vehicle took off quickly and the officer didn’t pursuit it.

Police said another officer located the vehicle parked and abandoned in a nearby parking lot of a business. When the officer checked on the car he could hear the suspects hiding in a nearby wooded area. The suspects initially refused to come out of the wooded area until a Madison Police K9 responded and the suspects were taken into custody.

Authorities said a 16-year-old male was taken into custody for Operating a Motor Vehicle without Consent, Eluding, and Resisting and Obstructing an Officer. An 18-year-old male, a 16-year-old female, and a 15-year-old male were each taken into custody for Operating a Motor Vehicle without Consent as passengers, and for Resisting and Obstructing an Officer. The-18 year-old was also charged with one count of Bail Jumping.

It was also discovered that the vehicle contained several expensive electronic items and garage door openers, which were believed to be stolen. If anyone in the Fitchburg area has been a victim of burglary recently, please contact the Fitchburg Police Department at 608-270-4300.
