Massive funnel clouds spotted across our area

MADISON, Wis. (WMTV) -- Showers and storms will continue to move through the area this afternoon and into the evening hours. While no severe weather is anticipated, there is the potential of funnel clouds in some of the stronger storms.

There have been a few reports of funnel clouds across the area this afternoon. One was spotted around Darlington at 12:45 p.m. and another in Barneveld around 12:30 p.m. There was also a report of another possible funnel in Dodge County.

Conditions in the atmosphere are such that weak, brief funnels may form from. They usually develop beneath showers or weak thunderstorms when the air aloft is especially cold. While these rarely reach the ground and turn into tornadoes, if one is spotted move indoors until the storm has passed.
