MADISON, Wis. (WMTV) -- A handful of candidates, including men and women, are challenging Madison Mayor Paul Soglin in the 2019 race for mayor.
Five candidates officially met the deadline of 5 p.m. on Wednesday to submit their paper work.
Two candidates have served on the city council: Maurice Cheeks and Satya Rhodes-Conway. Raj Shukl is running and is currently the executive director of the conservation organization River Alliance of Wisconsin. Toriana Pettaway, the city's racial equity coordinator has tossed her name in and is joined by comedian Nick Hart.
Who ever gets the most votes in the Feb. 19 primary will advance to the Spring election on April 2.
