Woman arrested after high speed chase reaches 100 mph on I39/90, WisDOT
Charges are pending against a driver from Eau Claire after officer said she lead them on a high-speed chase on I-39/90 Monday afternoon. It happened around 4:00 p.m.
In a release from WisDOT stated the driver was driving recklessly in the Portage area and then topped speeds of 100 mph as officers tried to pull her over. They broke the chase as the driver entered a construction zone. About ten minutes later, the driver was involved in a four-vehicle crash near mile marker 151 near Stoughton. WisDOT said the crash caused "complete blockage of the southbound Interstate."
Officers arrested the woman, 41-year-old Kathleen Edwards, and found an eight-year-old child in the SUV as well. Only minor injuries were reporter. Troopers did attempt to deploy tire deflation devices, but were unsuccessful.
Edwards was arrested for 2nd degree recklessly endangering safety and knowingly flee an officer.
