MADISON, Wis. (WMTV) -- Starting Friday, March 29 crews will begin the reconstruction and expansion project on I-39/90. Department of Transportation wants drivers to be prepared for nightly lane closures between 8 p.m. and 5 a.m. on interstate I-39/90 southbound from County AB to East Church Road, about two miles north of the US 51 interchange in Dane County.
During daytime hours and weekends, I-39/90 will remain open to two lanes of traffic in each direction. There will be a temporary barrier wall separating northbound and southbound traffic, according to the Department of Transportation.
Work will occur on the southbound Interstate lanes, then by mid-April, all Interstate traffic will shift onto the northbound side via crossovers, while the adjacent ten-miles of I-39/90 southbound is reconstructed and expanded.
Ramps will remain open at County N interchange, exit 147.
The following roads under I-39/90 are anticipated to be CLOSED during the construction season for bridge work:
DOT wants people to remember to be alert for crews and equipment in this area, and drive with caution through all work zones.
