Two people killed, four others injured in two crashes on I-43 in Rock County

CLINTON,Wis. (WMTV)-- The right line is still closed on I-43 Southbound at mile marker 6 due to two crashes involving multiple cars and a semi-truck. The crashes happened just outside of Clinton in Rock County this morning.

Wisconsin State Patrol dispatch confirmed that two people died and four others were injured.

Preliminary investigation showed a SUV traveling southbound on I-43 was moving at a slow speed with its hazard lights on.

A semi-truck also traveling southbound did not see the SUV and hit it from behind around 3:00 AM Sunday morning. Three occupants in the SUV were seriously injured and taken to nearby hospitals.

The semi lost control causing it to rollover. The trailer landed in the right lane blocking part of the left lane.

Shortly after the first crash, a pickup truck traveling southbound hit the trailer in the right lane. Two occupants in the truck were killed in the crash. Another person was critically injured and taken to a nearby hospital.

The crash remains under investigation.
