Insurance claims pile in after last night's storm damage

Madison, Wis. (WMTV) --- People across Madison are left cleaning up after hail pounds down across parts of the area last night.

The storm is keeping insurance agents busy as claim numbers continue to increase.

The damage itself included mostly broken car windows, mirrors and pellet marks on homes.

The latest American Family Insurance claim numbers include more than 420 auto claims and more than 260 property claims.

"It was amazing the water was coming down so fast that the drains themselves were backing up," said Morgan's Shoes Co-owner, Irv Hirschfeld.

AM-FAM says as the days and weeks progress, they expect those claims to continue coming in.

"It was like a little snow pile that was how much hail," said Chad Batorski of Madison.

They say close to 3,000 claims could be generated from this storm alone.
