IOWA COUNTY, Wis. (WMTV)--- The district attorney for Iowa County passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday afternoon after he suffered a pulmonary embolism while at his office.
The Iowa County District Attorney’s office said Larry Nelson was appointed district attorney by Governor Doyle in 2006. Nelson was a graduate of the UW Law School who served first as the assistant district attorney and corporation counsel of Iowa County for 17 years.
The District Attorney’s office said during his time as a prosecutor, Nelson supported innovative approaches to addressing criminal activity, including treatment – based prosecution through programs like Iowa County’s Drug Treatment Court and OWI Intensive Supervision Program.
Nelson’s family members ask for privacy at this difficult time.
