Jacobson Brothers Deli closing after over 80 years

MADISON, Wis. (WMTV) - A decades-old Madison area deli announced that it will be closing at the end of the month.

Jacobson Brothers Deli and Meats owner Mark Jacobson announced Thursday that they’re going out of business.

“It’s been a true family business - always someone in the family running it, operating it,” Jacobson said. “So it’s hard for me because I'm the one kind of putting it under. But I’ve done everything I can.

The family-owned shop has been a mainstay in Madison since 1932, and has two other stores in Sun Prairie and Stoughton.

"From the potato salad which is super awesome, to the Kansas City strips which I love - everything has been fantastic here so I really hate to see them go,” said customer Any Murillo.

Jacobson said they sold many of their products at the grocery store, Brennan’s Market. Jacobson’s deli has been struggling ever since Brennan’s closed about a year ago.

All three will close on Jan. 31.
