MADISON, Wis. (WMTV) - Janesville police have arrested a 24-year-old man after he threatened to shoot people with a handgun Wednesday morning.

Janesville police say officers were called to an apartment in the 900 block of Wright Road around 9:17 a.m. for a report of a domestic dispute.

When officers arrived, they found the man armed with a gun in the apartment. The victim had already left.

Officers set up a perimeter around the apartment and Janesville police sent in a crisis negotiator to speak with the suspect by phone. The negotiator was eventually able to convince the suspect to come out of the apartment and surrender.

Daniel T. Simmons is facing charges of battery, domestic violence, disorderly conduct and domestic violence while armed.
