Kindergarten teacher Sheri Holcomb from Janesville placed second in Monday night's episode of Wheel of Fortune - taking home just under $16,000 in prizes, including a trip to Costa Rica.

Sheri teaches at Rock County Christian School. A few weeks ago she traveled to the NBC Studios in California to record the upcoming episode.

She said the experience was more nerve wracking than she expected.

"Oh my word, you forget everything. I couldn't think of letters," Sheri said. "Someone asked my mom if it was fun and she said 'well when she was nervous I felt nervous for her,' so very little of what happened any of us remember which is really funny."

Sheri said she is taking a lesson from her experience on the show and bringing it to the classroom.

"There's a big buzz word in education with 'trauma' and how students who are under traumatic situations can't learn and I really found out how just being nervous effected my ability to learn so that really effects my teaching now," Sheri said.

Sheri Holcomb was on The Wheel of Fortune on NBC15 at 6:30 p.m. Monday.
