MADISON, Wis. (WMTV) - Just Bakery opened its doors to the public on Saturday morning. Dozens of people came out for the ribbon-cutting of the bakery.
Just Bakery is a vocational program that provides skills and training to those with barriers to employment such as homelessness, or criminal history. It is also geared towards those with an interest in the culinary arts.
The program pairs with Madison College's Bakery and Culinary Arts Program to offer students credit for their training hours.
The new storefront also offers students to further their training, by offering experience in customer service and management.
Just Bakery has partnered with Porchlight Products to offer a retail space at 1704 Thierer Road, Madison.
Baked goods are for sale at the location on Mondays and Wednesdays from 7-9 in the morning, 4-6 in the evening, and 8-2 on Saturdays.
