Leprechaun spreads 'luck of the Irish' at Madison hospital

MADISON, Wis. (WMTV) -- Patients, families, staff, volunteers and visitors were lucky enough to encounter a leprechaun at SSM Health St. Mary’s Hospital in Madison Friday afternoon.

Joe Herr, whose son Logan was born and cared for at the hospital, always spreads a little "luck of the Irish" around the building. This is the 16th year Herr has visited dressed in full leprechaun gear to hand out green carnations, St. Patrick’s Day themed toys and stickers to those he meets at the hospital.

Herr's visits always include smiles, laughter and a few Irish tunes played on his trusty harmonica. In addition to visiting area hospitals, Herr shares his infectious leprechaun charm around Madison each March and will be part of the St. Patrick’s Day Parade around the Capitol Square on Sunday, March 17.
