MADISON, Wis. (WMTV)--- Thursday is national pi(e) day! March 14th or 3.14 celebrates the mathematical equation that is defined as the ratio of a circle's circumference to its diameter. People celebrate by making and eating pies. One of those people is Beth Campbell in Paoli!

The 70-year-old has been baking since she was eight years old. She bakes pies year round but this time of year gets extra busy for her. She’s preparing for the American Pie Council’s National Pie Championships in April. This will be her 25th year competing.

“I’ve placed every year but one year and the one year I didn’t place, it was the year Charlie (her husband) did place. It was a very long ride home from Florida,” Campbell said.

To try out her new recipes, she’s inviting over 20 family members and friends to taste test 14 different pies.

“I have a lot of people every year that volunteer to try the pies, trust me,” Campbell said with a laugh.

Campbell’s “pie party” begins Thursday night at 5 p.m. NBC 15’s Morgan Wolfe will have a full report, and belly, on our 10 p.m. newscast!
