MADISON, Wis. (WMTV)--- A teenager was arrested after police said she assaulted a Madison Metro Bus diver on Wednesday afternoon.

Joel Despain, a spokesperson with the Madison Police Department, said the 16-year-old Madison girl grabbed the arms of the bus driver and pulled the driver by the hair. At the time of the assault, the driver, a 48-year-old Madison woman, had stopped the bus on W. Broadway around 4:45 p.m. in an attempt to break up a fight between two other girls.

Despain said video shows the 16-year-old trying to stop the bus driver from intervening so that the fight might continue. The driver prevailed. The teens left the bus.

The teenage girl was arrested for battery to public transit operator and disorderly conduct. A 13-year-old girl who was part of the original fight was cited for battery and disorderly conduct.
