MPD: Gunman mugs man in parking lot

MADISON, Wis. (WMTV)--- A Madison man was mugged in the parking lot of his apartment complex when he was returning home on Sunday evening.

Joel Despain, a spokesperson with the Madison Police Department, said it happened in the 2300 block of Columbus Lane just after 9:00 p.m.

The 49-year-old victim said a robber pointed a gun at him while making demands. He handed over his wallet and cell phone.

Despain said the gunman took off and appeared to have gotten into a nearby car that sped off.

The suspect is described as a black man in his 30’s. He is 5’7” -5’10” tall with a medium build. He was wearing a black jacket and black pants.
