MADISON, Wis. (WMTV)--- A Madison man was on his moped on his way to work early Wednesday morning when a car struck him from behind.

Joel Despain, a spokesperson with the Madison Police Department, said it happened in the 3600 block of Speedway Road just before 6:00 a.m. A 35-year-old man was tossed onto the hood of a car and shattered the windshield. He rode for about 200 feet in this position before the car stopped. He then rolled off.

Despain said the man was wearing a helmet.

The driver, a 22-year-old Beloit woman, told officers she did not see the man on the moped. He is listed in stable condition.

She was cited for following too close.
