UPDATE: One dead and one seriously injured

MADISON, Wis. (WMTV) -- Madison Police are investigating a fatal shooting on Kevins Way.

According to Police Chief Mike Koval, it happened just before 7 Wednesday night at the REM Wisconsin group home on the 5300 block of Kevins Way.

Three people currently live there and were unharmed. Madison police say two female employees were shot. One woman suffered multiple gun shot wounds and was taken into surgery. The other was pronounced dead at the scene.

The woman who was seriously injured called 911. The shooter allegedly drove away from the scene and crashed into another car on the 5000 block of Open Wood Way. A mother and her seven- year-old child were hit, but are unharmed. The suspect was arrested.

The suspect is a 25-year-old man with a Fitchburg address on his driver's license.

Chief Koval said they believe the shooting was a targeted act and believe the deceased woman was the target.

The incident is still under investigation.
