MADISON, Wis. (WMTV) - One of three men suspected in a string of armed bank robberies across the Madison metro area will spend nine years in federal prison.

Robert Minette Jr. was sentenced Thursday after pleading guilty to two counts of aiding and abetting in the bank robberies and one count of brandishing a firearm.

The bank robberies happened between Jan. 8 and Feb. 22, 2018 at banks in Madison, Middleton, Sun Prairie and Fitchburg.

In total, nine banks were robbed. Prosecutors say Minette was involved in the first two heists.

The other two people involved in the robberies will be sentenced next month.
