COLUMBIA COUNTY, Wis. (WMTV)---- A Madison man has been charged after a hit and run car crash in Westpoint Township on Tuesday morning.
The Columbia County Sheriff’s Office said around 11 a.m., 54-year-old Ronald A. Garske struck a legally parked car along Rausch Road in Westpoint Township. Garske attempted to leave the scene by driving away. Police said with the help of area residents, witnesses and an off-duty officer, they found him down the road. He was sitting in the car once it stopped running.
Sheriff officials said both vehicles received considerable damage, but no injuries were reported.
Garske was charged with operating a motor vehicle while under the influence - eighth offense, operating after revocation - second offense, obstructing justice and hit and run to property.
The Sauk Prairie Police Department, Lodi Police Department, Sauk Prairie Fire Department, Sauk Prairie EMS and Everett’s Towing were also on scene. This is an ongoing investigation.
