MADISON, Wis. (WMTV) -- Due to the extreme cold, the City of Madison offices will be closed Thursday, so the city is reminding property tax payers they have other options to make payments.

Pay online:

Pay by mail:
City Treasurer's Office
P.O. Box 2999
Madison, WI 53701

If you are paying by escrow, when paying by that type of check you are asked to endorse the back of the check. If your escrow check exceeds the tax bill amount, the over payment will be sent to you within six weeks.

Pay in person:
Bring your bill and pay with check, cash or money order.
Office hours resume Friday. 8 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.
Location: City Treasurer's Office 210 Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd. Room 107

All payments that are due January 31 for first installment must be received by 4:30 p.m. on Feb. 7.

A statement from the Mayor's offices reads: "Payments must be IN OUR HANDS by 4:30 pm February 7th to be considered timely." Anything received after that time will be considered late and will and will be due in their entirety.

Delinquent taxes are charged 1% interest and a .5% penalty each month.
