Madison women become rock stars, practically overnight

MADISON, Wis. (WMTV) --- A group of Madison women have become rock stars, in just a weekend.

Women rocked out on stage this evening after just learning how to play their instruments three days ago.

It's part of ladies rock camp, and the goal is to empower women.

Starting on Friday, women of all ages learned how to play keys, guitar, and base. But it doesn't stop there, they then write their own song and rock out in front of a live audience.

"It's life changing. It's something I never did, I didn't do band in high school, I dabbled in the keyboards when I had to take lessons but I didn't know how to play an instrument and now I'm playing bass in a band of women who used to do camp, so who would have thought," said Beth Dohrn, Girl's Rock Camp Board President.

Women from 19 years old all the way to 70 participate in the camp.

There is also a Girl's Rock Camp held in the summer. For more information click here.
