MADISON, Wis. (WMTV) - A new flag is flying at Madison’s Municipal Building - a rainbow flag, which will be flying high all month long.

Madison's first openly gay mayor, Satya Rhodes-Conway, helped raise the flag Monday to mark Pride Month.

Conway says it gives them an opportunity to celebrate diversity in the city's workplace.

"So we still have work to do and that's why it is so important to send a visible signal that Madison is a welcoming community and the city is an inclusive employer,” Rhodes-Conway said.

Dane County officials also raised a flag at the city county building at the same time.

The Madison Municipal Building will be lit in the evening with rainbow colors throughout the month of June.
