Man in custody after shooting on Madison's north side

MADISON, Wis. (WMTV) - The Madison police department’s violent crime unit is investigating after a shooting happened on the city’s north side Monday morning.

Police say a man is in custody, and reported no injuries.

Police say witnesses reported hearing several rounds fired near 1700 Northport Drive around 11:50 a.m.

The suspect is at the North District station and has not yet been formally arrested.

VCU detectives believe this was a targeted act of gun violence.
