A man was killed in a car fire in the Village of Merrimac on Friday evening.
A vehicle fire was reported on the 500 block of Cemetery Street at 5:47 p.m., according to the Sauk County Sheriff's Office.
The Merrimac Fire Department arrived on scene to find a vehicle engulfed with flames. An investigation after the vehicle was extinguished revealed Ricky J. Guillen, 50 of Prairie Du Sac, had driven his 1994 Buick Park Avenue into the front yard of a residence and became stuck in snow.
Witnesses at the scene said that while Guillen was attempting to back out of the lawn, the vehicle started on fire. Witnesses attempted to remove Guillen from the vehicle but were unsuccessful.
Guillen was pronounced dead at the scene by the Sauk County Coroner’s Office.
The Merrimac Fire Department and Sauk Prairie EMS assisted the Sauk County Sheriff’s Office at the scene.
