McFarland High's baseball team heads to state

MADISON, Wis. (WMTV) - A special send off for the McFarland High School baseball team as they head off to state for the first time ever.

The Spartans took a 3-2 victory over Madison Edgewood last Tuesday. Now they head to the Fox Cities Stadium in Grand Chute for the semifinal of the WIAA Division II state baseball tournament.

Coach John Felder says he didn't this coming.

"I can't explain it. You have to pinch me sometimes to make sure that I know that this is happening,” said Feldner. “You have to pinch me sometimes to that I know this is happening. Often times I say 'is this real? We're going to state?'"

Feldner says the journey to state comes down to great team chemistry and good leadership from the senior players. The Spartans take on Union Grove Wednesday night at 8:30.
