MADISON, Wis. (WMTV) - The newest member of Madison Police Department is ready to help solve crimes and keep neighborhoods safe.
K9 Archie made his debut today at the midtown precinct Thursday. He will be partnered with Madison police officer Emily House.
The acquisition of Archie was made possible by donations and sponsorship from the Reichels.
"We love this police department, we wanted to show our support and we've seen these dogs in action,” said Wendy Reichel, who donated to the K9 program with her husband, Duane. “The city doesn't support the K9 program its all done through non-profit and we just thought it was pretty cool.
Archie is the 8th K9 in the unit. There are seven dual detection K9s and an explosive device-detecting K9 in the group. Archie was named after Wendy’s grandfather.
