MADISON, Wis. (WMTV) - Middleton students are honing their skills with help from the founding violinist for the Trans-Siberian Orchestra.
Mark Wood has been going around the country as a music education advocate for two decades.
His "Electrify your Strings" program helps kids think and act creatively through music.
Over the past couple of days, Wood has worked with Middleton orchestra students from sixth through 10th grades.
“We want them to play a musical instrument for life,” said Wood. “You cannot play tackle football at 80 years old but you can play violin at 80 years old. We want to create a message that the instrument you have chosen is a vehicle that will allow you to travel into the universe of your mind and imagination.”
Wood and 300 musicians will be performing at Middleton High School’s Performing Arts Center on Friday, May 10 from 7 - 9 p.m.
