Middleton Police: Garage explosion caused by fireworks material

MIDDLETON, Wis. (WMTV) -- The Middleton Police Department said there was an explosion inside of a garage Tuesday night on South Avenue.

According to police, the explosion happened just before 10 p.m.

Police said a 45-year-old male resident was injured and transported to the hospital with what is believed to be non-life threatening injuries.

On Thursday, Middleton police said the preliminary investigation shows the explosion was a result of the man working with fireworks materials in the garage.

The investigation is ongoing, and no arrested have been made as of Thursday afternoon.

South Avenue reopened to traffic at about 10 a.m. Wednesday.

The Middleton Police Department, Middleton Fire Department, Middleton EMS and the Dane County Sheriff's Office responded to the call.
