Middleton police officer dies after battle with brain cancer

MIDDLETON, Wis. (WMTV) - Middleton Police Officer Katie Barrios has died after a two-year battle with Glioblastoma, a malignant form of brain cancer.

According to a Facebook post from Chief Charles Foulke, Katie has been bravely fighting this since January of 2017.

She leaves behind her husband Joe and her children Cole and his wife Jenna, 7 year old Joey, 6 year old Abigail and 17 year old step-daughter Samantha.

Barrios worked for Middleton PD since 2016 and before that; Warminster PD in suburban Philadelphia, Mount Horeb PD and Iowa County Sheriff’s Department.

In the post, Chief Foulke writes, "More than that, she was our friend and an inspiration to us all in the way she fought her diagnosis and lived life to the fullest. We will miss her."
