JEFFERSON COUNTY, Wis. (WMTV) – Authorities have recovered a man’s body from the Koshkonong Creek in the Town of Albion.
According to the Dane County Medical Examiner, the man was identified as John O. Rindahl, 83, of Cambridge.
Rindahl had been reported missing on October 10 and his vehicle was found parked on Aarback Road in the Town of Albion. The medical examiner said Rindahl’s body was recovered in a nearby creek on October 13.
Rindahl's family put together their own search on Saturday. They say that it was a volunteer with a kayak who found John.
The death of their father, grandpa, and uncle is heartbreaking but they say the community coming out to help meant a lot.
"We were so overwhelmed with emotions," Rindahl's daughter, Sandra Hinchley said." You know, you are so happy everyone is there but yet you are frantic to think about what they are there for."
The medical examiner said preliminary results of the autopsy support a freshwater drowning death. There was nothing discovered at his autopsy that suggests someone else was involved in Rindahl’s death, but the manner of death is pending an investigation.
