GREEN COUNTY, Wis. (WMTV) - Authorities have identified a man killed in a crash in Green County early Monday morning.
Sheriff Jeff Skatrud from Green County said 30-year-old Kyle L. Gumtow of Monroe was pronounced dead at the scene by the Green County Coroner.
Skatrud said they received a call just after 1 a.m. about a single-vehicle crash on County Highway P. When crews arrived on scene, the man in the vehicle was reported to be unresponsive. The vehicle was engulfed in flames. Firefighters from the Monroe Fire Department were able to put out the fire.
Officials believe the vehicle was driving east on County Highway P when the vehicle left the road and collided head-on with a large tree.
The initial investigation shows speed was a contributing factor, but the crash remains under investigation.
This incident is Green County’s first traffic fatality in 2019.
