Dog alerts family of house fire, all get out safely

Town of Exeter, Wis. (WMTV) - A family and a dog are all safe after a house fire early this morning.

The Belleville Fire Department was dispatched to a house fire on Willow Lane around 4:30 on Sunday morning.

According to Belleville Fire Public Information Officer Jake Myrland, the home owners were alerted by the family dog, and located the fire near the front of the house.

All occupants and the dog escaped unharmed.

The Green County Sheriff's Office says County Hwy D was shut down from State Hwy 92 to Hughes Road because of the fire. As of 8 this morning, the road was reopened.

The house is considered a total loss estimated at $400,000.

There were no injuries to firefighters. The cause of the fire is undetermined.

The Belleville Fire Department was assisted by the following fire departments, Verona, Fitchburg, New Glarus, Mt. Horeb, Monticello, Albany, Brooklyn Fire and Belleville EMS.
