BEAVER DAM, Wis. (WMTV)-- For 35 years, Nancy's Notions hosted Sewing Weekend in Beaver Dam. The company decided to cancel this year's event to focus on delivering more to the communities they serve.

Nancy's Notions was created by Nancy Zieman, who died in November 2017. She was known for her public television show "Sewing with Nancy." It was the longest-running sewing on television.

"Sewing Weekend" is an expo for sewing and quilting enthusiasts. The event has seminars, nationally-known speakers classes, demonstrations, and shopping opportunities.

The 2019 Sewing Weekend was scheduled to take place May 2-4.

According to their website, Nancy's Notions posted :"As we look towards our next 40 years, we have an opportunity to deliver more to the communities we serve all around the country. Therefore, we’ve made the difficult decision to cancel this year's annual Sewing Weekend event to allow us to focus on this important work. We will be back in 2020 with a bigger and better presence to celebrate sewing in Beaver Dam, WI and to honor the legacy of Nancy Zieman."
