MADISON, Wis. (WMTV) -- National Ice Cream for Breakfast Day started in 1996 in Rochester, NY on a snow day.
A mother with 6 kids wanted to entertain her children so she declared it was eat ice cream for breakfast day. The kids remembered to remind her the following year, and a tradition began.
It is now celebrated all over the world since the family traveled extensively and introduced the tradition to other countries. The Chocolate Shoppe and Beans n Cream coffee house in Sun Prairie are celebrating by opening their stores early and serving ice cream for breakfast!
They will be offering waffle sundaes, greenbush bakery donut sammies, and specialty milkshakes featuring lucky charms. They will even have some mini crafts for kids. Come in your pjs!
