New clinic aims to make dental care affordable for uninsured

MADISON, Wis. (WMTV)--- The Affordable Dental Care Clinic opened its Madison location this week on Fordem Avenue.

The clinic is run by a Christian non-profit that aims to close the gap in access to affordable dental care. The clinic provides dentistry at approximately half of traditional fees to those who have had to neglect regular dental care due to cost.

The clinic does not accept any type of insurance and payment is due on the day of service.

"There’s a lot of people that fall in that gap that are able to put food on the table, but they’re not able to get routine dental care. And that really affects their overall health," Executive Director Krysta Wetzel said.

"To be able to get them out of pain and give them their smile back is an opportunity for them to get their life back," Executive Board Member Dr. Robb Warren said. "And it’s just so rewarding to help them get to that point where they’re no longer in pain and they can enjoy their meal. They can enjoy their movie time, their relaxing time, and take care of things they want to take care of and not worry about their teeth."

The clinic is still in need of volunteers. You can find more information at http://www.affordablesmiles.org or by calling them at 608-622-4002.
