New traffic pattern starts on Verona Road

FITCHBURG, Wis. (WMTV)--- "We’re right on time, certainly the weather is being favorable to us right now," Steve Theisen, Wisconsin DOT Project Communications Manager, said.

The construction project on Verona Road started in 2013 and Wisconsin DOT says they hope to finish by fall 2020, but first they have to shift traffic again.

"The southbound traffic will go on the new interchange ramps, there will be no left turn on Williamsburg Way or driving all the way across Williamsburg Way and turn lane restrictions at Highway PD," Theisen said.

This new traffic pattern started on April 24 and will be the last traffic shift for this construction season, according to Wisconsin DOT.

"we’re essentially working on the core of Verona rd. building those three lanes, there’s gonna be a brand new bridge at Williamsburg way behind me, there will be two bridges to take Verona road traffic over highway pd so all with all that work we need to allow safe access for the construction crews as well as the safety for the traveling public,” Theisen said.

All businesses located on Verona Road are still open.
