In Feb. 2016, 24-year-old Caroline Nosal, was shot and killed while leaving work at the Metro Market on Madison's east side. Her story will be featured on Investigation Discovery on Saturday.
Nosal was gunned down by 26-year-old Christopher O'Kroley. He told police he admitted to plotting the attack after he was suspended and then fired from Metro Market for harassing Nosal. O'Kroley pleaded guilty and was sentenced to life in prison. He died while behind bars at the Waupun Correctional Institution in May 2017 - the same day of what would have been Nosal's birthday.
On Saturday, the show, "The Killer Beside Me" will feature Nosal's story and draw attention to workplace violence.
Jim Nosal, Caroline's father, said he and his wife received a phone call last fall from a woman with a British accent. She explained that she was interested in doing a documentary about what happened to Nosal.
"I have to admit, at first my wife and I, we were very skeptical," said Jim Nosal. "We found it very unusual that a film company from England would be interested in our tragedy."
After talking with the production company, the Nosals found out the episode would be based on the workplace violence of the murder. He said he, his wife, and two co-workers of Caroline's flew out to England and were interviewed.
"They wanted to know about Caroline and then I had sent them information which police had uncovered in their investigation about, you know, what was happening at the workplace and how it intensified to the point where, you know, Christopher O'Kroley, finally committed murder," said Nosal.
The Nosals will see the episode for the first time Saturday, April 21 when it airs for the first time on Investigation Discovery. It's scheduled to air at 9 p.m.
"It'll be hard. It will bring back all the things we remembered. You know they did ask us questions about, you know, what happened when police first told us."
"I think if they get the essence of what was happening around this event, that's what we're hoping for because as I've said all along, I don't want other people to go through this and something has to change. And right now I don't know if anything has changed yet that this wouldn't happen again at the Metro Market," said Nosal.
