MADISON, Wis. (WMTV)---A Town of Madison Police Officer James Brown was doing a routine patrol of the Pitcher's Pub Parking lot around 3:00 a.m. on Saturday.
He spotted a car running with its lights on, and when he looked into the car to check for an intoxicated adult, he found a sleeping 4-month-old. The doors were locked, and the front passenger-side window was open about an inch.
After making contact with the baby's grandparents, they broke the window out and removed the girl.
Officer Brown says once they got her out, it was comforting to know that she was okay.
The baby's father, Brandon Kuenzli of Sun Prairie, was charged Tuesday with child abandonment. Kuenzli told police he was waiting at a bar for a friend to pick him up because he was too drunk to drive.
Officer Brown says the moral of the story is to be a responsible parent. If you're caring for your child, don't bring them to a bar.
