One man dead after crash near West Towne Mall

MADISON, Wis. (WMTV) -- One man is dead after a crash near West Towne Mall.

Madison Police say a van hit part of a building at the 7100 block of Mineral Point Rd. around 1:47 p.m. this afternoon.

The van was traveling westbound when it crossed over the median and eastbound traffic lanes before jumping the curb and striking a building near the mall.

The injured driver, a 43-year-old man, was taken to a hospital, but was pronounced dead after arriving. According to police, the crash was due to a major medical event.

The man's name is not being released at this time.
