SUN PRAIRIE, Wis. (WMTV) -- Organizations united to help Sun Prairie residents and businesses recover from the explosion caused by a gas leak.

American Family Insurance, the American Red Cross and The Salvation Army are some of the organizations donating time, resources and money to help the victims of Tuesday night's explosion in Sun Prairie.

The American Family Insurance Dreams Foundation is making a $10,000 donation to the American Red Cross for the Sun Prairie relief efforts.

"Our hearts go out to all of the families and friends of the firefighter who lost his life, as well as to those who were injured," Don Johnson, claims advocate vice president said.

Captain Cory Barr died responding to the explosion.

The response from the Sun Prairie residents and surrounding communities has allowed The Salvation Army to give bottled water, snacks and miscellaneous supplies to those affected.

"I am immensely overwhelmed and grateful for the amount of support the community was able to provide and I cannot begin to say 'thank you' enough," Captain Andrew Shiels of The Salvation Army said.
