A Perkins in Janesville has closed its doors permanently, just as its parent company filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy Monday.

Employees loading trucks at the family restaurant say they found out about the closure Monday morning, as they were coming in to work, according to WCLO Janesville.

The workers say they haven’t heard if Perkins will offer them jobs at other locations.

Perkins & Marie Callender’s Holding LLC, which operates Perkins Restaurant, announced Monday that it filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection.

Perkins & Marie Callender’s also filed for bankruptcy in 2011, survived and continued to operate under the ownership of Wayzata Investment Partners.

Wayzata is still its majority owner, according to the bankruptcy petition filed Monday.

According to Google Maps, the Perkins on La Crosse's north side is also now permanently closed.

This comes just two years after a Perkins closed on University Avenue in Madison.

NBC15 confirmed that the two remaining Perkins in Madison are still open, as well as locations in Wisconsin Dells and in Onalaska near La Crosse.

A Perkins in Rockford closed its doors on July 16.
