Platteville police looking for stabbing suspect

PLATTEVILLE, Wis. (WMTV) -- Platteville police are looking for a suspect who stabbed a man on Tuesday, Jan. 15.

The Platteville Police Department responded to a reported stabbing on N. Second Street near Furnace Street at 11:10 p.m., according to the department.

Officers made contact with a victim and discovered he had wounds to his head and abdomen. Southwest Health EMS was called to the scene.

The stabbing reportedly took place in the parking lot on the northwest side of the intersection of Mineral and Second Streets. Witnesses indicated that the stabbing possibly stemmed from an altercation that took place in a tavern located on Second Street, according to the department.

The suspect, described as a man, approximately 5 feet and 11 inches, weighing 230 pounds, wearing an orange coat and was last seen running north on Second Street.

The Grant County Sheriff’s Department K-9 was called to assist in tracking the suspect. Although Officers were unable to locate the suspect, video of the suspect was obtained from the City of Platteville Street Cameras and a local business.
