Madison shooting leaves restaurant damaged, MPD investigating

MADiSON, Wis. (WMTV) -- Multiple reports were made of shots being fired in and around a restaurant on the east side of Madison early Sunday morning.

Officers were sent to the area of Perkins Restaurant & Bakery on the 4800 block of Hayes Rd. and E. Washington Ave. at 2 a.m., according to the Madison Police Department. When they arrived, multiple vehicles could be seen fleeing the area.

Police found evidence multiple shots had been fired. Two windows in the restaurant were damaged during the shooting. People were inside the restaurant at this time. No injuries were reported.

Officers recovered 30 shell casings at the scene, according to Madison Police Chief Mike Koval's blog.

Additional rounds could have been fired from the area of the Comfort Inn and Suites across the street, according to the department. Police are still investigating.
