(WMTV/NBC SPORTS)--- The Seattle Seahawks agreed to a contract extension with Russell Wilson just before Monday's deadline.
Wilson is confirming the contract agreement on Twitter.
The agreement is making him reportedly the richest man in the NFL.
The deal is worth $140 million over four years with a $65 million signing bonus, ESPN's Adam Schefter reported Tuesday, making Wilson the highest-paid player in the NFL at $35 million per year.
Wilson is from Cincinnati, Ohio. He was a quarterback for North Carolina State University before being drafted by the Colorado Rockies Major League Baseball team in 2010. In 2011, he transferred to the University of Wisconsin to play his final year of eligibility in college football.
