COTTAGE GROVE, Wis. (WMTV) -- A search is underway for a critically missing dog in Cottage Grove.

According to Underdog Pet Rescue, Keeton was adopted by a Cottage Grove resident and got loose and ran away within an hour of the adoption on Saturday.

The organization said it is critical for the dog to be found with the brutal temperatures.

Keeton was last seen near Mourning Dove Drive and Sandpiper Trail.

The search is concentrated in the area north and west of Glacial Drumlin School, and south of Gaston Road in Cottage Grove.

Keeton was adopted through Underdog Pet Rescue, and came from Alabama, where she was the victim of an animal cruelty case. She survived a distemper outbreak at the shelter in Alabama.

Officials said, "if you spot Keeton, please do not chase call or whistle, as this may cause them to run in fear and into danger."

A Facebook page, "Finding Keeton", has been established. Contact 608-622-8780 with any information.
