MADISON, Wis. (WMTV)-- Members of Wisconsin’s National Guard were given a send-off Sunday before they deploy for the Middle East.
The farewell ceremony was hosted specifically for the 157 “met” team that will be stationed in five different countries in the Middle East.
The team will be engaging with militaries of other countries as well as building partnerships with them.
The ceremony was a way for family and friends to say goodbye and spend time together before the team is deployed.
Joseph Kong, a member of the "met" team, explained that leaving behind family and friends is one of the hardest things about being deployed. Kong will be leaving his wife and kids at home when he deploys.
